Lead PHP developer quits Print

One of the lead developers of the PHP Zend Engine, as well as a lead developer for the thread safety system and other core components of the PHP project, has quit. The developer, named Jani Taskinen, has been involved in in the PHP project for six years. In a post to the php-internals mailing list, Jani stated "Thank you all for the last 6 years or so. It has been fun (sometimes) and many times not so much fun. Unfortunately I have had enough and I don't want to be associated with this project anymore." . Jani has been a big contributor to the project, and this news will most likely have an impact throughout the PHP community

Trojan Spoofs Firefox Extension, Steals IDs Print

An identity-stealing keylogger that disguises itself as a Firefox extension and installs silently in the background was discovered Tuesday by security vendor McAfee. According to the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company, the "FormSpy" Trojan horse monitors mouse movements and key presses to steal online banking or credit card usernames and passwords, other login information, and URLs typed into Firefox, the popular open-source browser. "There's an order number in the message, which matches the number of the attachment," said Schmugar. "When someone opens the attachment, the Trojan downloads and installs two components, a keylogger as well as a sniffer." As of Tuesday afternoon, FormSpy had gained little traction...

Apple to Introduce Bluetooth Mighty Mouse Print

The Bluetooth version of its single-button, right-clickable mouse by Apple has submitted a filing with the FCC. This mouse will be the same as the current Mighty House (single-button, right-clickable mouse) except it is wireless. The mouse comes with asingle button that does both left-click and right-click duties. Oneomni-directional pointing ball in the middle allows you to scroll inany direction. The new Mighty Mouse uses two standard AAbatteries and will be compatible with OS X 10.4.6 and later.

No release date is set for the new Bluetooth Mighty Mouse -- currently codenamed M6,but judging from the FCC filing, the new mouse is expected to beannounced during Apple's WWDC conference during August 7th to 11th.
